Tarpon-Redfish combo trips

Report Date: June 1, 2006

Each year big Tarpon migrate past our shoreline giving the ardent angler a chance to catch one of these silver giants!!!! Homosassa, Florida has become world famous, over the years, for it's huge tarpon. Anglers come from all over the world to try to catch a world record fish, here.

Catch a tarpon like this!!!!!!

This time of year, one of our most popular trips is a combo tarpon-redfish charter. We leave the dock at first light in search of big fish on the vast, clear, shallow flats. Hopefully, calm winds will give us the right conditions to locate rolling tarpon, stalk 'em and see if we can't make the perfect cast to coax them into biting our offering.
Once they hit, and the hook is set, hold on!!!!!You just hooked into one of the most exciting, acrobatic, powerful fish you could ever imagine.... The battle could last from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on both you and the tarpon. Definitely, a once in a lifetime adventure!!!!

After a morning of tarpon, we shift gears, get out the light action spinning or fly gear and go after redfish. We fish the backcountry, mangrove island studded coastline in search of the hard pulling fish.. Typically, we fish in depths of 12 inches to 3 feet of clear water, sight fishing for our quarry. Once located, a cast in front of the fish usually results in a hookup and battle. It doesn't get any better than to pick out the fish, cast to him and watch him take your lure or fly. Only in Florida on our beautiful Gulf coast crystal clear flats can you experience such an adventure!!

Bubba Redfish-15 min battle on light tackle.
