Spots and Dots on the Homosassa flats
Report Date: October 26, 2004
Redfish and Trout on the Homosassa flats.
With the cooler weather and calmer winds, the Gulf of Mexico flats around Homosassa and Crystal River have been outstanding. the fish have been catching up on their feeding getting ready for winter and are biting great!

Butch Rawson fights a big 'un!!
|
Recent trips with Butch Rawson and Scott Wolcott from the Atlanta area and Bill Dodson and Ellis Green, also from Atlanta produced excellent results. Nice trout and redfish were caught for a shore lunch. Then we tackled some brutes on light tackle and flyrod. Big schools of Jack Crevalle and Bluefish have been roaming the flats and we had a ball catching them on topwater plugs and fly.
There is nothing quite like seeing a school of Jacks explode on a topwater Mirrorlure Top Dog, knocking it three feet into the air and daring it to come down. When it did, they exploded on it again. Then, hookup and hold on!!
Where in the world would you rather be on a beautiful October day with azure blue skies and gentle, cool breezes to your back catching hard pulling fish on light spinning tackle or flyrod?
