Cobia, Redfish,Trout, Spanish Mackerel....

Well folks, spring has almost sprung, then it unsprings, then springs again. These darn late cold fronts and high wind days, have about driven the fish and the fishermen crazy. It warms up, the fishing frenzy begins, it colds down, they slow down then, it warm again. Maybe soon, our weather will mellow out and watch out!!! The flats and backcountry will become alive with Redfish, Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, Cobia, Ladyfish, and Tarpon.

Some of our recent trips have produced good numbers of big trout and spanish mackerel. Mike and Kathy Pons of Lake City, did well as did Leslie Lewis and Lindsey Hanes, my favorite lady anglers.

George Conomos and his sons, Zack and Soc had a good day catching Cobia, spanish mackerel and trout. These guys are great anglers and are always fun to guide.

Mel Gagliano, Ocala- First Redfish- A Bubba!!

Mel Gagliano and Jay Meeks were given a gift certificate by their wives for a Christmas present and scheduled a trip with me last week. As you can see by this picture, Mel caught his first redfish-a good ?un. A 27 incher weighing aprox. 8 lbs. Way to go Mel!! We were fishing a school of about 30 fish in crystal clear water and sight casting to them. All these fish were over 8 pounds with several in the 15-18 pound class. These powerful fish are fun to catch on light tackle or fly rod.
