Trout a-biting
Report Date: March 15, 2003
Hello folks, the past couple of weeks the spotted sea trout have been going crazy! Most of our trips, weather cooperating, have seen limits of big 'uns. It's not uncommon to catch up to 50 fish, most within the slot of 15-20 inches. Many are over 20.
The most successful method continues to be fishing a 1/4 oz Cotee jig with a plastic grub 18 inches below a Cajun rattlin' cork.
The best colors have been bright ones like Saltwater Assassins electric chicken, chicken bone, candy corn, white/pink tail, and sweet pea.
However, topwater action has been very good, too. Most of your ol' standbys will work-Mirrorlure Top Dogs, Top Dog Pups, She Dogs, along with Catch 2000s twitch baits.
We still have some openings for April, so give me a call and book a trip.
The Redfish have been kind of spotty, lately. You really have to hunt for them. Check out redfish hotels like rocky points, grass shorelines and oyster bars. This time of year, live bait works well. A big ol' shrimp freelined or under a cork can tempt even the least likely ol redfish into biting.
Artificial lures like gold spoons, twitch baits, topwater and jerk baits have helped take a few ol' spotted tail lately.
As the spring continues to warm the water and more and more baitfish show up, the reds will heat up also. Schools of big fish will show themselves and will become more aggressive.
So, drop me an email to lock in a spot to go out with us RedfishHunting. It doesn't get any better than sight fishing, whether spinning or fly, for big reds. So, come along and we guarantee you will have a great, fun filled day.
Until later...
Take a kid fishing, cause a child's smile and good day fishing is the best medicine for whatever ails 'ya.
